BIOGRAPHY
 

ALBERT MONTSERRAT (Tenor)

Born in Barcelona, Albert studied music and singing there at the Conservatorio Superior de Música del Liceo.

At the start of his professional career he was singing baritone, and between the years 1995–2001 sang the roles of Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Tobias Mill in La Cambiale di Matrimonio, the Conte in Le Nozze di Figaro, Il Segreto di Susana, the title role in Gianni Schichi, Giorgio Germond in La Traviata, Guiglelmo in Cosi fan Tutte, etc.

In October 2002 he made his debut as tenor playing Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly at the Teatro de la Farándula in Sabadell (Barcelona).

From that moment his career took a new direction during which he has sung principle roles such as Faust in Faust, Florestan in Fidelio, Poglione in Norma, Cavaradossi in Tosca, Rodolfo in La Bohéme, Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana, Des Grieux in Manon Lescaut and Don José in Carmen.

In the autumn of 2005 his first disc was released, of Puccini’s Le Villi, on which he sang the role of Roberto, recorded under the auspices of the Festival Euromediterraneo in Rome.

2006 saw his debut in his native Barcelona, at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, in which he sang the role of Aristide in Montsalvatge’s Babel 46.  In successive years he returned to the same theatre to interpret Corrado in Corsaro, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Rodolfo in Luisa Miller and the world première of the opera by the Catalan composer Joan Guinjoan, Gaudi, in which he sang Alexandre.

In recent years he has sung in recitals with the soprano Montserrat Caballé throughout Spain and Central Europe.

He has given recitals in major auditoriums such as Palau de la Música Catalana, Palau de la Música of Valencia, Auditorio de Zaragoza, Auditorio of Valladolid, Palacio de Festivales of Santander, Auditorio Baluarte of Pamplona, Palacio de la Opera of A Coruña, Teatro Romano of Mérida, Philharmonic Concert House of Cologne, Koncerthaus of Vienna, Munich etc.

Outstanding in his career is the Open Air concert he gave with the soprano Lucia Aliberti in the German capital, accompanied by the Berlin Symphony Orchestra.

In the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid he has sung the roles of Roberto in Bohemios, Leandro in La Taberna del Puerto, Leonardo in La Bruja and Los Diamantes de la Corona (Sandoval).

During his career he has worked under the following Maestros:

Albert Argudo, Enrique García Asensio. Miguel Angel Gómez Martínez. Tamas Pall, Miguel Roa, José Miguel Pérez Sierra, Antoni Ros Marbá, Josep Pons, Ciryl Diderich, Edmon Colomer, Manuel Galduf, Ybes Abel, Enrique Patrón de Rueda, Peter Falk, Josep María Collado, Liu Jia and Miguel Ortega, among others.
